This Privacy & Cookie Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use gosolartoday.co.uk, and how we use cookies and similar technologies.

For the data you submit through our website, Emerge Digital Media Ltd is the data controller until your details are shared with a Supplier. Once a Supplier receives your data, that Supplier becomes an independent data controller responsible for its own use of your information, under its own privacy policy.
Our services
Go Solar Today is a lead generation service. We connect people interested in solar products and services with our partners ("Suppliers"). When you submit your details, and where you have given your consent, we share them securely with relevant Suppliers so they can contact you with quotes, information, or advice.
Our service is obligation-free. Whether or not you go on to purchase from a Supplier is entirely your decision.
Who our Suppliers are
We only share your data with the Suppliers we work with. You can see the current list of our Suppliers here. This list is kept up to date. By submitting your details and giving consent, you agree to your data being shared with the Suppliers on that list who are relevant to your enquiry.
What information we collect
Contact details: name, email address, telephone number, postcode.
Enquiry details: information about your solar and battery requirements.
Technical information: IP address, browser type, device details.
Cookies and tracking data: where you have consented, we use cookies and tracking technologies, including from Google and Meta, to measure performance, personalise advertising, and improve our services.
We do not ask for or require health or other special category data to provide our service. Please do not submit health information unless a Supplier specifically requests it for a legitimate purpose, in which case it will be handled under the additional protections required for special category data.
How we use your information
Connecting you with Suppliers – where you consent, we pass your details to relevant Suppliers so they can contact you about solar products and services.
Responding to enquiries – to answer requests you send us.
Confirming your details – we may contact you to confirm your requirements before connecting you with a Supplier.
Marketing and advertising – to run and measure campaigns via platforms such as Google and Meta, where you have consented to the relevant cookies.
Compliance and fraud prevention – to verify enquiries, keep records of consent, and prevent misuse of our service.
Our lawful bases for processing are:
Consent – for sharing your data with Suppliers and for advertising and analytics cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Legitimate interests – for fraud prevention, securing our systems, analytics, and keeping records of the consent you have given. You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
How we use your telephone number
When you provide your telephone number through one of our forms, we may use it to contact you directly by phone, SMS, or messaging apps such as WhatsApp, in order to:
confirm the details of your requirements;
connect you with, or arrange contact from, a relevant Supplier;
respond to enquiries you send us.
Where you have consented, Suppliers on our published list may also contact you on this number. You can withdraw your consent at any time (see "Your rights" below). To stop SMS messages, reply STOP.
Sharing your data
We may share your data with:
Suppliers – the solar companies and installers on our published Supplier list, who may contact you directly. Each is an independent controller of your data once received.
Advertising and analytics platforms – such as Google and Meta, where you have consented, for campaign measurement and audience targeting. Data shared for audience-building is hashed/pseudonymised where possible.
Service providers – IT, hosting, analytics, verification, and support providers who process data on our behalf under contract.
We will never sell your personal data.
Cookies and tracking
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website you visit. We use cookies and similar technologies on our site.
We only set non-essential cookies — including advertising and analytics cookies from Google and Meta — after you give consent through our cookie banner. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the "Cookie Settings" option on our site, or through your browser settings.
The categories of cookies we use are:
Essential cookies – necessary for the site to function. These do not require consent.
Analytics cookies – help us understand how visitors use our site so we can improve it. Set only with your consent.
Advertising cookies – used by platforms such as Google and Meta to measure campaign performance and personalise ads. Set only with your consent.
For a full, current list of the specific cookies we use and their durations, and to manage your preferences, use the "Cookie Settings" button on our site.
Data retention
We keep your enquiry data for up to 3 years. We retain it for this period to provide the service, prevent fraud, and keep a record of the consent you provided. After this period your data is securely deleted.
If you have not opted out of marketing, we keep your details for marketing purposes until you have not engaged with our messages for a continued period, after which they are removed.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
Access the data we hold about you.
Rectification – correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
Erasure – request deletion ("right to be forgotten").
Restriction – restrict or suppress our processing of your data.
Portability – obtain and reuse your data across services.
Object – object to processing, including direct marketing.
Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the lawful basis.
To exercise any of these, email hello@emergedigitalmedia.com. To stop a Supplier contacting you, you may also need to contact that Supplier directly, as they control their own use of your data once received.
If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
International transfers
We do not routinely transfer your data outside the UK. Some providers, including advertising platforms such as Google and Meta, may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.
Security
We protect your personal information using secure systems, encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls limiting access to authorised personnel, and measures to ensure data is not retained longer than necessary.
Children
Our service is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy & Cookie Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. This is our most up-to-date version and supersedes any earlier one.
